may i know some interesting facts based on geography?
Here’s a few
- Water always flows downhill
- The earths major desert regions are found around 30º latitude and 60º latitude
- All oceans are interconnected
- Trenches and mountains indicate major plate boundaries
- Tropical Rainforests occur below 30º latitude
- Landmasses that have a larger N/S extent tend to have greater biome diversity comparatively speaking
- About 90% of the world’s population lives in the Northern Hemisphere.
- All the people in the world standing shoulder to shoulder would fit in the province of Alberta
- If the earth did not spin there would be one big convection cell
- About two-thirds of Africa is in the Northern Hemisphere.
- Florida and Hudson Bay in Canada are getting about 1 inch closer every 36 years
- Lake Baikal is the deepest lake in the world.
- Hudson Bay is the largest bay in the world, (larger than England) bordering only one country Canada, and only two provinces and a territory.
- The Atlantic Ocean is saltier than the Pacific Ocean
- If the world’s total land area was divided equally among the world’s people, each person would get 8.5 acres
- Lake Nicaragua boasts the only fresh-water sharks in the entire world.
